The Worst Idea From Swagbucks

Swagbucks has just implemented a new restriction. In the beginning of the Swagbucks website they used to send Gift Cards every week. That was what they had it down, but the gift cards would actually arrive in 3 days. That was awesome. As they got popular the period of sending users the gift cards went to 10 business days, and then to twice a month. Now, not only you have to wait 15 days to get your gift card, you can only claim 5 gift cards per month. Why? So you have to order their new gift cards ($25 and $50) which cost way more. Mr. Swag Guy that was a smart move, funny that when it comes to things like that there’s no big blog post about it. I guess you hoped no one would notice it. What’s the point of having 100,000 members on Facebook if your customer support goes down? Seems like swagbucks is getting a little greedy.

This is the first time I have something bad to say about swagbucks. I hope things don’t continue to decline. Several months ago Swagbucks said they would implement a way to send gift cards automatically. I am guessing that never happened.

  1. Agreed. I found this incredibly annoying. If we have to wait 15 days, we shouldn’t have a limit. Or, the price of the $50 should drop to be equal to 10 $5 cards.

Unfortunately, all we can do for now is buy our 5 limit per month of the $5 cards and then fill in the rest with $50 cards ($25 are the worst deal, avoid these at all costs)

I totally agree! I’m sick of this as well. I have to wait and wait and wait for my giftcards. It’s getting ridiculous. They must hate the fact people are getting these giftcards so easily. If they raise the $5 Amazon giftcard from 45 pts, that’ll be the end for me. I have a feeling that’s right around the corner.

hey Dan i think you should add lockerz.com to the sites that work.

If u want to try it get invited at http://www.lockerz-inviter-assist.webs.com/

  5. Christy says:

I hate Lockerz. I sent for an invite and finally got one, went to the site for the first time, played a game and won 49 of their points. Seemed pretty great, until the page refreshed and all of the points I won were gone. I sent them an email and nothing was done. There are no games to play, and you only get 2 points per day for logging in and a couple for doing their daily poll. It was sooo not worth my time. Thought you’d like to know before wasting the time.

ok i’m sorry for your bad experience with lockerz…

but in december lockerz will be coming out of beta which s buggy…(till buggy today)

but once its out then you will be able to play game, watch vids, and more to earn points.(a downside all prizes will be quadrupled in points price, but still much cheaper than swagbucks)

about your game i’m sorry but you will receive at least 25 of those points sometime.

  6. Unfortunately most sites go to waste when many members sign up. It’s the downfall of referring so many people. =(

I have to play devils advocate here. This rule applies to ALL prize redemptions, not just gift cards. I for one think it’s smart. It gives everyone a fair chance to snags great prizes. Sure it stinks if you’re someone that snags numerous gift cards every month, but the way I see it, it’s FREE. There should be no reason to complain. It doesn’t cost you a thing. I’m greatful that there’s a website where I can do practically nothing and still get really cool stuff.

For what it’s worth, there was a blog post about this. Here’s the link since you missed it. http://blog.swagbucks.com/2009/11/get-prize-you-want-with-swag-bucks.html

To be honest with you, I just don’t buy it. It happens with all companies, when they get big they get greedy and they come up with all sorts for rules and policies where you get less and they get more. Their new policy is just a way to stop people from getting so many gift cards and spend more on their sponsored prizes. That’s where the money is for them.

    • Anon says:

It is not just ‘free.’ The people who are snagging numerous prizes a month spent a lot of time building sites, blogs, getting referrals. Time is NOT free.

Now swagbucks is denying those people their prizes even though they spent a tremendous amount of time supporting and advertising swagbucks. Swagbucks is getting greedy!

      • BranwenRavenhair says:

Actually, yes, it IS free. No one is charging you to use the site. No one is charging you for shipping. No one makes you pay to click on the surveys or the polls. The swidget is free. The NOSOs are free. If you have the time to spare, then don’t complain. You got stuff for free. Enjoy it. Regardless of how generous the winnings were early on, the stuff is still FREE.

      • Jordan says:

News flash: if people don’t think they’re getting enough free shit, they should stop going to get that free shit where they’re getting it from. That’s like someone going to a community soup kitchen so they can get a free meal and then complaining about the meal not being good enough. If you think that the free shit you’re getting isn’t worth the time you’re spending to acquire it, stop coming to the site. COMMON SENSE CHECK?

  8. Anon says:

I am very disappointed as well. I can deal with the 15 days, that is not the problem.

The new increments though are unfair. Why charge so much for the new increments, they should be the same. Either lower the price of new increments or keep them high but remove restricts (5 a month…)

They said that they did the new restrictions so everyone could get gift cards… how can you run out of electronic gift cards?

    • Christine says:

Electronic gift cards are sponsored by the companies that you can use them with. They only allow swagbucks to give away so many a month.

Also, some people do put money into swagbucks in a round about way. By purchasing things through swagbucks and by signing up for netflix and other companies through swagbucks.

  9. Anonymous says:

Guy’s quit complaining. You get free stuff. Your lucky there’s even a website like swagbucks.

  10. Anon says:

This site sucks, period. I have no idea how it got so popular when there are other lesser-known sites that have WAY more prizes that are a lot easier to get. I redeemed a $3 americax gift card because I thought they were stackable. But it turns out that I’m only able to redeem it once–EVER. What the heck am I supposed to do with a $3 gift card?

  11. nick says:

yo what up with the codes dose any body know any

  12. Emily says:

It’s still free gift cards! Not costing y’all anything to receive. Be grateful for that!

  13. Abner says:

SwagBUcks IS getting greedy.. plus i liked the old swagbucks better

  14. BranwenRavenhair says:

Really? That’s what you guys are going to go with? “SwagBucks is getting greedy.”

YOU are getting FREE stuff for sitting at a computer, typing in a few searches, clicking on some special offers and pasting in codes, and SwagBucks is getting greedy because they made it a little harder to buy Swag. *blink, blink*

Boy, I’m impressed with the logic.
